A 2-Bedroom vacation rental cottage on a beautiful, level Honeoye Lake property.
A cute and cozy Honeoye Lake rental cottage that is located on the southwestern shore of Honeoye Lake in upstate New York. The Bungalow Cottage is a great lakefront 2-bedroom cottage on Honeoye Lake that provides a perfect spot for enjoying one of the prettiest spots in the Finger Lakes. You can relax on the deck attached to the front of the Bungalow, or on one of our two docks, or at a shaded picnic table looking out at the lake, or sitting around your fire pit. A lot of choices at work here, all of them good.
The property is on a level Honeoye Lake waterfront lot, with 164 feet of lake frontage. The overall property has just under an acre of land so there is plenty of parking and room to enjoy your lakeside vacation.
The Bungalow Cottage was totally rebuilt in 2006 so has all new electric service, appliances, insulation and a beautiful baseboard heating system so renting in the late fall and winter can be as enjoyable as in the summer.

We’re excited to add that as of August, 2020, we’ve been able to make the switch to the City of Rochester public water service so all faucets and the shower deliver great-pressured, sparkling clean water. (Those who have rented in prior years will remember having to use water jugs for fresh water. Happily, this is no longer necessary!)
Also, due to renters’ requests we’ve recently added a large capacity window air conditioner in the great room to provide cool comfort during hot and humid summer days.
Another upgrade for our renters: for TV viewing we've dropped the "iffy" over-the-air TV antenna and now provide a subscription to a YouTubeTV account utilizing a Roku device. This gives the renter many options for viewing local channels or other cable network offerings.

The property has two aluminum-framed with cedar-inlay docks so bringing your boat is very easy. The NY State boat launch is practically right across the lake from us so getting your boat into and out of the water is very easy, too. If you don’t have your own boat you can still enjoy the water using a 5 person paddle boat we have available for our guests, or the 2 kayaks that we have available as well. We also have life jackets for our guests’ use. If you would like to rent your own power boat during your stay with us you can always make arrangements with Trident Marine [see our link page] on East Lake Road for hourly or weekly rentals.
The property itself is situated such that you can see the entire length of Honeoye Lake from either of the docks or from the water’s edge. The southern dock has chairs that we permanently keep there in the summer that are the perfect place to relax, sip a cold beverage, watch the lake activity, or just take a nap. Honeoye Lake itself is an excellent fishing lake, and we’ve been told that the area in front of our property is one of the best on the lake. We constantly see fisherman out in front, summer and winter!
The Bungalow Cottage shares our property space with our newly built (2020) family cottage, which is not for rent, incidentally. While we physically share the property with the rental unit, our renters have full use of the property for lawn activities, dock usage, etc.
In addition to the 2 standard docks on the property, we also have a floating dock which kids enjoy swimming to. It floats just off the normal docks and has a depth of about 4 and a half feet underneath it. The solar lights we have on the corners of it make for a welcoming sight at night.

Honeoye Lake itself is one of the 11 picturesque lakes that make up the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Our property is towards the southern end of the lake with great views of the Bristol Hills, yet is a quick drive to nearby cities such as Rochester, NY, or Canandaigua, NY.
Honeoye Lake is a perfect lake for fishing. According to the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation, the lake is populated with Chain Pickerel, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Yellow Perch and Bluegill, among others.
If you plan on staying with us, one side trip you’ll have to make is to visit Harriet Hollister Spencer park [see our link]. This is a beautiful park situated on top of the hills south of Honeoye Lake and it affords a full view of the lake. The best vantage point for this incredible view is right alongside the park road so you are not required to hike or mountain climb (unless you want to, of course) to take advantage of it. Please note that the park road is closed to vehicles in the winter but the park itself is open for winter activities. See our Links page to get more information about this Harriet Hollister Spencer park.
Nearby in Honeoye we now have two new craft breweries for you to visit. The Twisted Rail Brewing opened its Honeoye location right on the water in August of 2020 at the Trident Marine location and it has a restaurant as well as great beers. The Birdhouse Brewery on Main Street, Honeoye, opened in May 2020 and has become quite the bustling hotspot in town. Please check our Links page for information about these 2 new breweries.
If you’re interested in wine trails, there are many such activities nearby around some of the larger Finger Lakes like Seneca, Cayuga & Keuka. Check our Links page for information.
For the kids there’s Sandy Bottom Park on the northwest end of the lake (near town). This is a cute park with a sectioned off swimming area on a sandy beach with lifeguards in the summer. The park area has swing sets and other attractions, and plenty of parking. There is also a tennis court there if so interested. The park also has a nice nature trail with bridges over Honeoye Creek, the lake’s outlet. You can find more information about this on our Links page.

The winter activities on the lake are pretty amazing. On any given cold winter day you can see a large number of ice fishing tents spread out around our end of the lake. This year we’ve noticed many car races being held right on the lake just off our property (not that I recommend this activity). Last weekend we counted 15 cars involved in a single race on the ice. My brother-in-law and his friends have been known to dirt bike on the ice here, and quite frequently you’ll see some ice boats going by (also known as skate sailing). Add to that the cross country skiers and snowshoers and we have a very busy winter lake environment!
If you enjoy downhill skiing, we are extremely close to Hunt Hollow Ski Club (private club) — you can actually see the slopes from the shore line of our property. Also nearby is Bristol Mountain, a very popular public ski center.
Bristol Mountain also offers fall activities, such as ski-lift rides to the top of the mountain for a breathtaking view of the hills in full fall color, or for the more adventurous: Zipline Canopy Tours. Check their website on our Links page for more information on Bristol Mountain & Hunt Hollow,
Although Harriet Hollister Spencer recreation area’s roadway is closed to vehicle traffic in the winter, it is a great place to go for outdoor hiking or cross-country skiing. There are many trails of different difficulty mapped out in the information gazebo by the entrance near the parking area.
